WESTPORT DOG
About Us
In the Fall of 2020, we purchased the Ven Elger Pet Center and proudly took over the lifetime work and achievement of former owners Ellen and Leo. We have wholeheartedly continued in their footsteps while also breathing new life and innovations to all things dog and the community of Westport. Coming from Boston with over 20 years of dog care experience we are excited to bring premier-level dog care to boarding, wellness, grooming and isolation for the state of Massachusetts.
As certified to do isolation, we are dedicated to making the facility safe and efficient and have made many upgrades and renovations to ensure this. We have had the opportunity to work with over 30 rescues and look forward to working with many more.
Living on the property helps us eat, sleep and breathe with the dogs and enhances elevated dog care around the clock.
We did not anticipate the hidden bonus of getting to be a part of the lovely Westport community. We look forward to building community, hosting events, yappy hours and most importantly being open-minded dog advocates always available to answer questions or chat about anything having to do with dogs and their wellness.
When not working we can usually be found outside on the property in the backyard playing cornhole, listening to yacht rock with Bumpy.

PRICING AND DETAILS
Isolation
ISOLATION OPTIONS:
- $60 per night isolation
- $35 per night after release
- $35 vet check/health cert
- $50 OCVI
- $5 Physical chipping if chips are supplied per dog.
Additional vetting services can be performed with advance notice for additional fees. Please email if you need vaccines, stitch removals, HW tests, fecals, etc. This service is not always available and might result in your dog needing to board extra nights. Please send your dogs fully vetted with all their paperwork to avoid unnecessary vetting.
48 hours prior to arrival your incoming list is due. Please email patsplacebookingqt@gmail.com a list of your pups including age, weight, sex, any medical notes and sibling or bonded pair information.
Arrivals: We intake on Saturday and Tuesdays (7:30am-6pm) any arrivals after 6pm will need to stay an additional night. Arrivals after 6pm will be charged a late fee of $250 and be charged $35 per dog for an extra night. Please communicate with your transport companies about our drop off time period.
Booking your quarantine: All booking requests must be emailed to patsplacebookingqt@gmail.com. A lot of you text me and ask about availability, which is fine but, email booking must happen after the text exchange. This helps me keep organized and keeps all of us accountable.
Cancellations: We offer cancellations free of charge with 7 days notice. If you do not cancel 7 days prior to scheduled arrival you will be charged full price per kennel reserved $120. I’ve found a week is a reasonable amount of time to reach out to other rescues or cover our waitlist to get vetted and line up transport. Plan accordingly! You can swap 1 dog for another.
Outbreaks and illness: If MDAR requires me to hold a kennel or transport due to suspected illness or an outbreak each rescue will be responsible for their own dogs and their own fees associated. You use us at your own risk! In some cases multiple rescues will be intermingled in the same kennel room based on arrival time and transport.
Health Certs: MDAR does not accept form 7001 or TVMA (Texas). If you send a dog on one of these, I will need to report it to MDAR and my vet will need to supply the dog with a MA OCVI this will result in an additional fee.
No dog should travel unless they have a negative fecal (within 10 days of check in) and proper age based vaccines including DHPP (8 weeks), Rabies (16 weeks), Kennel Cough (8 weeks). We also require a negative HW test (6+ months).
Collars: Every dog will now be required to leave the building with a properly fitted martingale collar. You, the rescues, can supply the martingale collars to your adopters or foster directly or they can buy them from us at pick up. If an adopter or foster shows up without a martingale (that fits properly) they will be required to buy one. Please make sure everyone knows this.
Release times: are based on when the entire isolation room is full. If your group arrives at 8:00 am and the next one at 3:00 pm release time will start after 3:00 pm. You will get an email alerting you to release time on the day of arrival.
Consignee information: All health certificates must read Westport Dog 855 Main Rd. Westport, MA 02790 ℅ (insert your full rescue name). Any health cert not reading Westport Dog as the consignee will not be accepted.
Take note: If you use us for isolation you are agreeing to the terms above.
